Submitted by CureSearch - Conquering Childhood Cancer

The Shark Shootout once again provided CureSearch with a national stage to increase both awareness and funding for childhood cancer. CureSearch signs, wristbands, gold ribbons and videos were on clear display throughout the tournament as it aired on NBC Saturday and Sunday.

Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly won the Shark Shootout in exciting fashion by a stroke on Sunday. Both sporting CureSearch gold ribbons, Stricker made an eagle on the par-5 17th - hitting the second shot and the putt - to give them the lead. Kenny Perry and J.B. Holmes, who had been in the lead most of the day, both missed birdie putts on No. 18 that would have forced a playoff.

CureSearch took center stage on Thursday night, when CEO and President John Lehr spoke to the crowd of media and PGA tour professionals about the harsh reality of childhood cancer. Then Sebastian Gillen, stage IV brain cancer survivor, told his breathtaking story, illustrating the power of the research being done by the Children’s Oncology Group. View the video below.
