Is your child’s teacher good for your child?

My kids have been in school long enough to realize that sometimes they just don’t jive with certain teachers. Experiences teachers seem to be able to recognize that and manage it appropriately, but what do you do what it crosses a line? What do you do when your child comes home and starts really complaining about their teacher?

MomLogic just ran a story about two families were faced this exact situation. These are clearly extreme situations but in these cases the teachers were truly harassing these kids. Here are the links for you to get the full story:

Keep in mind that even small children can express when they are being treated poorly so take it seriously. Stay calm and try to be open minded but do explore the situation fully when your child comes home complaining about a teacher. It may be that your child is having struggles in the classroom or with another child. Or, it may very well be the child is being treated poorly by the teacher. Teachers are sometimes bullies to kids and that must never be allowed.

Whatever the reason, school is supposed to be safe and nurturing for all our kids. If our children are coming home upset, they won’t learn well and develop well. As their parents, we must over turn every stone to make sure their learning environment is positive and nurturing. Sometimes this will mean insisting on extra learning services. But, sometimes it many mean weeding out teachers who have no business being around our kids.
