Taking the kids to the pediatrician is never fun. Between just dealing with finding the time to go and the angst the kids have over what may occur in the visit, most people come into the waiting room already on edge. Over the years, I’ve noticed that there are a few things that we can all do to help make the visit go more smoothly. On the office end, we have procedures in place and a way we attempt to pace the day that we hope will help. But, did you know there is a lot you can do,too? I just posted 10 tips on A Dose of Dr. Gwenn that I think will really help make your next trip to the doctor a better experience for you, your kids, and your pediatrician.

BTW, there is an additional tip I should have included - please follow the rules of any posted signs. Those are there for a reason and important for the functioning of the office and the safety of your kids. Office staff barely has time to get the tasks done important to the running of the office each day so if time was taken to create a sign and post it in a room, crisis level was achieved on that issue and all other paths exhausted - such as friendly verbal reminders.

Here’s to great future doctor’s office visits with all of us feeling good about the experience.
