How dangerous is little league for our kids?

When 13-year-old Justin McAfee, the Idaho baseball player, collapsed of a heart attack on the field, we were all shocked and, as MomLogic put it: “sick with worry”.
With 20 million kids playing baseball in the US, I was worried, as a mom and a pediatrician. I turned to one of the top cardiologist in the country for some answers and found some very reassuring answers. you can check out what I learned Click here to go to the article I wrote for MomLogic.
Scary things do happen to kids sometimes, and often in sports where they are pushing themselves very hard. What we all have to remember is one child’s health history is very often not related to our child’s health history. Each child’s risks are very individual and that is why you have to stay in close touch with your pediatrician and have good, annual sports health screenings each year. I’ll be back soon with more on this very important topic.
